Projects and Endeavors Position

Below is a prospective summary of a new part-time position at Portals. This is a project manager position with a startup non-profit organization with a vision for a ‘school in every church’.  Portals is creating Christian support materials for home and micro-schools. We research, design, and develop daily lesson plans and project support for parents seeking homeschool, micro-school, or for Christian private settings. 

 

The position itself is to attend to a variety of organizational efforts and work with the Executive Director to assess and adjust efforts according to their fruits. We are looking for someone with high energy, flexibility, good communication skills, and an enthusiasm for traditional home education.  

Job Description Summary

  • Help Portals ensure that this endeavor is always Jesus centric.

  • Support and report to the Executive Director in promoting this Christian Education endeavor.

  • Endeavors: Portals is consistently trying new things to serve our subscribers, developing new projects will vary greatly in the skill set needed.

    • Work with the Executive Director concerning how to build teams for these efforts and what support you need to accomplish goals set.

    • Help prepare course materials to hand off to lesson planners.

    • Conduct online research into new initiatives, organizations, and ideas.

  • Projects: Varied. This position will take on one to two projects at the same time and help to move the initiative forward. This requires flexibility and a willingness to dig into new ground for Portals. 

  • Digital Support: Support the team as needed in creating and adding content for social media, monitor audience, help to strategically design content to build social media presence.

  • Event Planning: Support the Portals Community with event planning during the school year; (Your input and ideas would shape this program); this would include helping Operations with the annual meeting, and other events that come up. 

  • Sales: During the conference season, we may have options to travel, set up exhibit hall tables, and share about Portals to attendees. ​

    • Collect data, offer free trials, and help set up accounts. 

  • Communications: 

    • Report to and meet via video call with the Executive Director weekly for project assignments, revisions, and updates.

    • Meet with the entire team face to face once per year for the annual team meeting.

    • Schedule and meet with other Portals team members as needed for projects.

    • Have clear and upbeat communications with everyone as a representative of Portals.

Multi-line address

The position would be 20 hours/week, $26/hour, for 50 weeks per year ($26,000/year), with flexible 2 weeks off. This position is salaried, and work times are flexible within the week as you would communicate with Portals.  We do not currently offer health benefits for part time employees. 

 

You would be provided with materials, supplies, and/or equipment to establish or enhance your effectiveness. You would have support from the Executive Director at your discretion. These needs would be discussed during orientation.  Any and/or all items, tools, equipment, supplies, or materials that may be provided to you by the company shall remain the property of the company and are to be returned if and/or when your employment with the company concludes. 

Portals is a Christian non-profit organization. As a start up organization, job responsibilities may shift over time in conversation with the Executive Director and the employee. This allows for variety for the employee, but also for the organization to shift and adjust our activity to meet the mission.
