Why So Inexpensive?
To Provide Affordable Quality Education for your Children
Competing with Cost of Public Education
Our Competition is 'Free'.
We recognize that in order to help as many families as possible to choose a Christian education, we must compete with the cost of a ‘free’ public education. There are costs, of course, to handing children over to secularized government schools, but the financial difference does affect your family decision. Portals is set up with minimal subscription fees, digital teacher tools, and ‘printables’, to help make that financial difference nominal.
Innovation
Less Paper, Less Cost!
You can use the library, buy used books, or borrow from a friend to get most of your material to learn. Homeschoolers have done this for generations. When you use digital media for lessons, links, and ideas - your cost should decrease. In addition, you can easily share ideas with a friend or with Portal to add to digital lessons for everyone to see. The new Project Generator provides unlimited project ideas for no extra cost.
Non-Inflated Resources
Pricing for Families, Not Institutions!
Government schools come with government funding and for-profit businesses will charge you as much as they can within an inflated system. We don't blame them, but there is a better way to provide educational resources at lower costs. For instance, you can use texts instead of textbooks when possible; or use blank notebooks over customized journals; or use our digital dashboard for lessons instead of paying for ‘teacher guides’. Add it all up and these simple changes save you thousands. Portals is not a publishing company, so as paper increases in cost, you don’t have to.
Volunteer Board of Directors
Less Administrative Costs!
Portal has a volunteer board. Each of our board members volunteer their time, resources, and expertise to direct and oversee the development of Portals. Together, they provide expertise in starting over twenty companies, (both for profit and non-profit), founding three schools, and over one hundred and twenty years of experience.
Donations
More than $1.5 million in funding!
Portals is mostly funded by generous donors who are passionate about building quality Christian education. They are excited to be helping you provide Christ-centered learning! All of our administrative and development work is fully funded by donations. This means you are only paying for services you use.
