The Best of Christian Curriculum

Portals has written daily lesson plans for all ages and core subject areas. These lesson plans are written with curriculum resources that are well established in the Christian community and have proven through decades of results to be quality, faith-based curriculum providers. Portals lesson plans are flexible so you can tailor them to best fit each child.

Literature-based learning fosters a deep love for reading, allowing children to explore diverse topics through engaging stories and rich narratives. It encourages critical thinking, as students analyze themes, characters, and plots, connecting literature to real-world experiences.

Literature-Based

Portals has done extensive planning to ensure your child's education prepares them well for their future. You'll have lesson plans for all primary subject areas that work in concert with one another, aligning to reflect inter-subject learning.

Comprehensive

All subject areas are His! No matter what discipline, the search for Truth is a search to understand God’s Word, God’s Creation, God’s Plan, and God’s Will.

Strong literature should be followed by memorable activity.  Project based learning encourages deeper retention of knowledge, as students apply they've learning and see the direct impact of their efforts.

Project-Based

Portals utilizes multi-age learning to strengthen the student's learning experience and simplify the teaching process. If you need help determining which learning level is most appropriate for your student, we would be happy to help. You can reach out using the contact information listed at the bottom of the page.

Collecting Your Reading Materials

We understand that print materials can be one of the most expensive parts of education. That is why we have made it as easy as possible for you to collect and save money on these resources.   Our book lists for each learning level include ISBN # and links to publisher websites and discounts. They also indicate which lesson you will begin using each book so that you can make purchases throughout the year, rather than having to purchase them all at the start. Download each book list and read the information below for additional tips and recommendations on finding affordable resources for your school.

  • Read-Alouds: Portals encourages educators to read some books aloud to students.  The book lists indicate which of the texts you will be reading aloud to students. Consider purchasing only one or two copies of these books to reduce the number of books that you need to purchase.

  • Free Online Resources: There are many pieces of classic literature incorporated into the Portals lesson plans, and many of these can be found as free audio or print resources online. Our book lists indicate which of the texts can be found on the Project Gutenburg website, a free online resource for reading classic literature.

  • Placement Testing: Know which level of Math and Reading materials each student will need before placing your order. Placement testing can be done prior to the start of the school year at an informational meeting or student orientation.

  • Online Retailers:  An Amazon shopping list is linked at the bottom of each book list. Some publishers do not sell on third party websites, so to get these materials you may need to go directly to the publisher. Some publishers provide a quantity discount for schools based on size of your order.

  • Book Drive: You do not need to use the exact ISBN listed on the book list, especially if you would like to save money by using items that people in your community may already have available to donate. Keep in mind that using a different ISBN may result in slight differences in page number or content.
