Portals Projects - Practice Patience!

Writer's picture: Mandy McRaithMandy McRaith

Welcome to Portals Projects! Each week we share projects that foster community building, creative thinking, problem-solving and character development. Invite your student(s) to pick a project that interests them to work on for a day or a week. Encourage them to share their plans, products or performances with the Portals community so we can all celebrate and grow together.

Week 32 - Patience

Colossians 3:13 Be patient with one another. If any one has a complaint against another, forgive that one. Christ forgave you. So you should forgive each other.

Seeds of Patience

Get a seed and plant your mother’s favorite flower or vegetable in your family or community’s garden. Or bake your mother’s favorite dessert.

Are you as patient as a Mother?

Challenge: Design a chain reaction using household items that includes two simple machines,  a cup being knocked over, an annoying noise, a super slow action, and at least one other action that might try a mother’s patience.

Mom Trick Shot

Challenge: Design and record a trick shot inspired by mothers. Examples: Flip a baby bottle, land a spoon in the dishwasher, throw a coat on a hook.

Waiting Game

I get so bored standing in line or on long car rides. What is something new I can do when I have to wait?

Mission Report

Imagine you are an explorer and you have discovered a new land. You have spent months exploring this new land and you must now  communicate to your homeland the success or failure of your mission. Write a report that explains whether or not this new land has what you set out to find.  It can be as realistic or fantastical as you want.
